Content Guidelines

Sideload is a curated platform for legal adult games. Every title is editorially reviewed before publication. These guidelines are binding and consistently enforced — they protect users, developers and the platform itself.

✓ Allowed

• Erotic and romantic content between clearly adult, consenting characters
• All genres: visual novels, dating sims, RPGs, adventures, simulations
• Drawn, rendered and text-based depictions

✗ Never allowed (leads to rejection and a permanent ban)

• Depictions of minors or minor-appearing characters in any sexual context — including “youthened” adults and equivalent codes. This means school settings with minor-appearing characters, not university or campus stories between adults (§ 184b/c of the German Criminal Code, § 4 (1) JMStV — Germany's youth media protection treaty)
• Sexualised violence, rape, coercion, or their glorification
• Depictions of incest or involving real animals — adult anthropomorphic characters are not covered by this
• Real people without their verifiable consent
• Hate speech, extremist or war-glorifying content

Review process

1. Developer self-disclosure at submission (content questionnaire)
2. Editorial review of the complete build before release
3. Spot checks after updates; community reports via the DSA reporting channel
4. On violation: immediate takedown, documentation, and — where required — reporting to the authorities

Legal basis: the German youth media protection treaty (JMStV), the German Criminal Code (§§ 184 ff. StGB) and the EU Digital Services Act (DSA). These guidelines are deliberately stricter than the legal minimum.
